KNUST School of Veterinary Medicine Commissions Donated X-Ray Machine to Enhance Training, Research and Community Veterinary Services

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) School of Veterinary Medicine has strengthened its teaching and research capacity with the commissioning of a new X-ray machine donated by the Christian Veterinary Mission (CVM), USA.

The equipment, officially commissioned on February 13, 2026, is expected to enhance practical training, research, and community veterinary services delivered by the School.

Professor Christian Agyare, Provost of the KNUST College of Health Sciences, expressed profound gratitude to Christian Veterinary Mission for the generous donation. He noted that the X-ray machine would significantly improve clinical teaching and diagnostic training for veterinary students while expanding research opportunities within the School.

Professor Agyare further emphasised that the equipment would support the School’s outreach mandate, particularly in delivering veterinary services to the KNUST community and surrounding areas. He assured the donors that the facility would be used responsibly and efficiently for teaching, research, and community service. He also called for deeper collaboration between KNUST and Christian Veterinary Mission, proposing staff and student exchange programmes to strengthen academic and professional partnerships.

The delegation also met with faculty and students interested in training and research opportunities, delivered a presentation to clinical-year students on ethical dilemmas in veterinary practice, donated additional items to the School, and participated in fellowship activities with the KNUST Christian Veterinary Fellowship (CVF).

Professor Emikpe gave special recognition to Dr. Andy Quarcoopome for his instrumental role in liaising with Christian Veterinary Mission to facilitate both the donation and the visit.

The commissioning of the X-ray machine marks a significant milestone for the School of Veterinary Medicine, reinforcing its commitment to advancing veterinary education, promoting impactful research, and delivering essential services to the community while strengthening international partnerships.
